Aster
Chapter 12

Google Wallet and Apple Wallet

This is the feature that separates a forgotten program from a used one. A card tucked into the phone wallet is found in two seconds, unlike a piece of cardboard at the bottom of a bag.

You have nothing to do No setting on your side. The add button appears automatically on every customer's card, and updates happen on their own with every scan.

1

The card joins their tickets and passes

From the card open in their browser, your customer taps the add to wallet button. The card installs itself next to their boarding passes and event tickets.

It carries your business name, your logo if you added one, and the exact state of their counter.

Updates happen on their own

This is the point merchants grasp last, and yet it is the most useful one to explain at the counter.

You scan

The stamp is added in Aster. Nothing else to do, and your customer does not need to open anything.

Their card changes

Aster notifies the customer's wallet, which fetches the new version. The counter goes from six to seven, with no intervention.

They see it later

When they reopen their wallet, the card is up to date. That small moment is what keeps the habit of coming back alive.

What to say to the customer "Add it to your wallet, it will update itself on every visit." That is the sentence that turns a sign-up into actual use.
2

Your promotions appear on it

When you launch a promotion, its message appears directly on the card, in every customer's wallet, for the whole period you set. It disappears automatically on the end date.

Customers who ticked the box to receive your offers also get a notification on their phone. The others see the message on their card but are not disturbed.

The chapter on promotions

Android and iPhone, no distinction

Your merchant app only exists on iPhone, but your customers can have any phone.

Google Wallet, on Android

The card is added in one tap and updates automatically. Promotion messages appear on it and vanish by themselves on their end date.

Apple Wallet, on iPhone

Same behaviour. The card updates itself after each scan, and the customer can reach it from their lock screen.

Troubleshooting

What can go wrong

"My card is not up to date in my wallet"

The update is sent immediately after the scan, but how quickly it shows depends on the customer's phone and connection. It usually arrives within seconds. If in doubt, their card in the browser always shows the exact state, and that is the one that counts.

"I did not get the notification for your promotion"

The customer most likely did not tick the optional box when signing up. The message is on their card, but no notification is sent to them. That is anti-spam law, not a forgotten setting.

"I deleted the card from my wallet"

Their stamps are not lost. They rescan your code, enter the same number, get their card back and can add it to the wallet again.
